What’s it all about?

In 2015-16, a total of 102,470 safeguarding enquires took place in the UK. Over 50% of these cases involved physical abuse and neglect, making these the most common cause of safeguarding alerts. Have you ever thought about how you could help protect innocent and vulnerable people who might be suffering from abuse, harm or neglect within the adult health and social care industry?

This qualification will provide you with a thorough understanding of the importance of dignity and safeguarding, which could help reduce these shocking statistics.

Learners wishing to undertake the certificate should be aged 19 or over. You will need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in literacy as you will be expected to write answers for assessment purposes. To assist in the delivery and understanding of this qualification, candidates should have access to details of a work environment in a health and social care setting.

You will be added to our Equal platform, where you will be able to access all the learning resources and assessments to complete. You will be allocated your own personal tutor who you can contact throughout your studies. You will be required to work through a series of tasks and activities designed to reinforce the learning process and demonstrate your knowledge. Your personal tutor will then assess your work and provide you with constructive feedback for each unit. All of our award-winning learning resources are of the highest quality and are designed to be engaging and interactive to keep you focused on your learning at all times. This course is available paper-based too on request.

This is a 16 week course that requires your own time management for study. You will be given submission dates to keep you focused on the 16 week timeframe.

This qualification is ideal for anyone who is currently working, or looking to work, in the adult health and social care sector. You should enrol on this course if you wish to learn how to identify safeguarding issues, and uphold excellent standards of care provision for vulnerable adults.

This course is split into four manageable units, covering topics such as:

- Unit 1: Understanding safeguarding in adult health and social care
- Unit 2: Principles of dignity in adult health and social care practices
- Unit 3: Understanding duty of care in adult health and social care
- Unit 4: Understanding dilemmas and public concerns in adult health and social care
