This course is ideal for students interested in developing their practical and technical skills in a hands-on way. You will be willing to work hard in and out of lessons to develop skills compatible with the course and will be aiming to go on to employment.

There are four units across this two-year programme, including
- Psychological Approaches and Applications - You will study 4 different approaches in psychology and apply them to real life issues linked to gender, aggression and business. This will be examined with a 1.5-hour exam
- Conducting Psychological Research - You will plan and carry out an experiment in a given area of psychology. This is assessed with 4 pieces of coursework
- Health Psychology - Students explore the topics of health ill-heath and addiction. This is examined with a 2-hour exam
- Criminal and Forensic Psychology - This unit is coursework-based, focusing on criminal behaviour and treatment
English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career. If you have not already achieved grade 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/ or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.
The sixth form day is 9am - 4.15pm and takes place Monday-Friday.
You will study each of your subjects for 4hr 45min per week, across three separate lessons.
Your timetable will be determined by the combination of subjects that your study, which will be made available to you at the start of the academic year.
You are not required to be on campus when you do not have a timetabled lesson, although we would strongly recommend that you are. Making effective use of our learning facilities and resources during such study periods, will ensure that you keep on top of your work and make significant progress in your studies, not to mention developing important time-management, organisation and independent-study skills.
Mon-Fri between 9am-4pm. Days and times of study are subject to change. Timetables are confirmed at the start of term.
The aim of this applied course is to offer both academic and practical experience of psychology and enhance your knowledge and skills.
This qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by higher education providers as contributing to admission requirements to many relevant courses, if taken alongside a programme of learning alongside other level 3 qualifications.
