Geographers possess the skills that employers look for and what is true of employers is also true of universities. This is because of the way in which Geography integrates ideas from the Sciences, Social sciences and the Arts. Geography is concerned with the Big Issues facing the planet today from growing populations, expanding resource use to potential environmental catastrophe. The course is divided into three sections of study:
•Physical Geography
Water and carbon cycles, Cold Environments, Hazards. Including the study of rivers, glaciers, the tundra, volcanoes, earthquakes and storms.
•Human Geography
Global systems and governance, Changing places, Population and the environment. Including International trade, Antarctica, population predictions.
•A Fieldwork Investigation
An individual student report based on data collected in the field. Fieldwork is a necessary part of teaching and learning in the course and we will experience a balance of both physical and human issues.
