Developed in consultation with employers, this course provides you with the skills required to work in this sector of the music industry.
This course focuses on music performance by preparing students for a series of performances at esteemed local venues, such as The Georgian Theatre and The Studio. You will learn essential creative and organisational skills through study of the music industry and professional practice.
The course prepares students for Higher Education by developing academic skills through consistent reflection of practical work, research projects, collaborative and independent learning and analytical skills. Students learn how to discuss music professionally, and theory and harmony study provides students with fundamental knowledge required for their careers and/or university.
You will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4-9, including English and Maths.

You will be taught through a series of lectures, workshops and practical demonstrations.
Assessment will be carried out through live performance, compositions, music notation and academic submissions.
English and Maths are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and progress to your dream career.
If you have not already achieved grades 9-4 in GCSE Maths and/or English at school, we will support you to improve your skills.
You will study modules including:

- Music Performance Session Styles
- Professional Practice in the Music Industry
- Ensemble Music Performance
On completion of this course, you could go on to study music at university or go into employment in the music or performing arts industry.
