What’s it all about?

This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in health and healthcare. The T Level is designed to support students to develop the skills, knowledge and professional behaviours needed for entry to Adult Nursing.

You could progress straight into a skilled profession or continue your studies with a degree or higher apprenticeship. Career options might include working across adult nursing in hospitals, health centres, the community and prisons.

You will need 5 GCSE grades 5 or above in English Language, Math's and Science.

The core element of the T Level in Health will boost your knowledge in a range of topics such as the principles of good scientific and clinical practice, as well as fundamental scientific concepts alongside an understanding of standard operating procedures, management of equipment and work areas, stock control and storage, and the importance of quality standards and health and safety. You will also learn how to manage data in a healthcare setting.

Your occupational specialism will cover all aspects of adult nursing including physiological readings and how to care for service users in different settings and with different needs. Practical practice sessions will be carried out in our 3 bed Health Hub and assisted living area.

Core knowledge is assessed through a combination of written exams and an employer-set project. Specialist knowledge and skills are assessed through a combination of a written exam and practical projects.

You must have a good understanding of Maths and English, grade 5 or above at GCSE are needed for you to study this course.

You will be able to put everything you learn into practice with an industry placement of around 45 days over the course of 2 years.

This will provide an amazing opportunity for you to work with an employer while you study, in a hospital or other healthcare setting and gain invaluable experience as well as key skills that employers are looking for. This will provide an additional element to your university application to a nursing or associated degree programme and help prepare you for this rigorous interview process.

This T Level has been developed with the support of local employers including North Tees and Hartlepool NHS hospital trust and local nursing care homes through our employer forum. During your studies you will benefit from the excellent links we have with our local universities, relevant guest speakers, master classes, placement, trips and visits.

This is a full time programme delivered over two years. Your timetable will be confirmed at the start of term including your industry placement.

This T Level in supporting the Adult Nurse is specifically for those who wish to pursue a career in Nursing, the normal progression route following successful completion of this course would be onto a Nursing degree

T Levels are the equivalent to achieving 3 A-Levels and will be worth UCAS points. For example, a T Level Distinction* is worth the same as 3 A-Levels at A*.

The qualification will be recognised by universities and other education providers for students who wish to further their studies.
