English literature, history and religious education student Nooresahar enjoyed her experience at Hartlepool Sixth Form, praising the great learning environment. Considering a career in journalism, Nooresahar is progressing to the world-famous University of Oxford to study English literature.
The best thing about studying English literature was the teaching. Not only were classes engaging, I always knew that my teacher would go out of their way to support me.
It was comforting to have someone who I knew I could go to with any college-related problem and get clarity and reassurance.
I had a good experience at Hartlepool Sixth Form over the past two years and I found that it provided a great environment for learning. As a student, I was able to exercise independence and use my own initiative when revising.
At the same time, teachers were supportive and classed focussed on helping students achieve the grades they wanted in exams.
I’ll be going to the University of Oxford to study English language and literature.
When I applied to Oxford, I didn’t think I had much of a chance of getting in. I think, as a student from Hartlepool, it’s easy to be intimidated by the idea of places like Oxbridge. But I had huge support from my family, college and religious community.
The college and my English teacher put in a lot of effort to make sure I was comfortable and confident when going in for the interview. I think it played a huge role in my getting a place.
I received an email from college yesterday confirming my new upgraded results and I’m happy with them! They are the grades I was predicted at the beginning of the academic year, and I think they’re a truer reflection of my work than the grades I was previously awarded.
Maths and English are everywhere! They are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and to progress to your dream career. A GCSE Maths and English qualification could be the difference between being accepted onto a university course or getting a job promotion.
