Students at Hartlepool Sixth Form College are celebrating after discovering they have achieved the results for their future ambitions.

The sixth form college’s students received their results today (Thursday 14 August) with many accepting offers from some of the country’s leading universities, progressing to higher level apprenticeships, or starting a new career.

Sustaining its reputation for high performance, A-Level students achieved an overall 94% pass rate with many subjects receiving 100%. Those studying STEM subjects performed extremely well in A*-C grades, specifically in Chemistry and Physics.

Students taking technical qualifications once again stood out with a 94% pass rate and 84% of students receiving merits and distinctions.

A significant proportion of Hartlepool students gained successful entry to university with 92% of those successful in securing their first-choice place.

Proud A-Level student Benjamin Stevenson gained 4 A*’s in Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry.

Ben, who is heading to Oxford University to study Physics said: “I was ecstatic when I opened my results. All of my teachers have been amazing in helping me to get my results and pushing me to achieve more than just what I needed. ”

Another delighted A-Level student, Amelia Connelly, achieved triple A’s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. She said: “I was so relieved when I opened my results. The stress of worrying before was all worth it and I’m excited now for my after college plans.”

Amelia is going to Imperial College London to study Bio Chemistry.

Those studying T Levels also impressed, with students studying Health, Early Years and Engineering subjects – 88% achieving merits and distinctions.

Student Paige Gretton will be heading to Northumbria University to study Adult Nursing after achieving a triple distinction in Health and Social Care.

She said: “I was over the moon when I opened my results as I knew I got the grades I needed to get into university, so it’s very exciting.”

Results were available to collect from the sixth form from 8am with those unable to pick up their results in person receiving an email later in the morning.

The college’s Matrix Standard accredited Careers team also hosted drop-in support and one-to-one appointments offering advice and guidance on grades, clearing and course options.

Student recruitment staff from Teesside University were also on hand to guide students through the clearing process.

Executive Head, Jane Reed, said: “We are incredibly proud of our Sixth Form College students and their hard work and determination have led to some fantastic results.

“These achievements are a credit to their effort and the dedication of our staff, and we are excited to see what they go on to accomplish next.”

From Thursday 21 August, Hartlepool Sixth Form College will be enrolling 2025 school leavers for its wide range of A-Levels subjects and T Levels, and technical courses including Animal Science, Games, Animation & VFX, Health & Social Care, and Engineering.
