Lois described her time at Hartlepool Sixth From as fun and motivating.
She progressed straight from sixth form to studying a degree in English Studies at Teesside University and then a masters in Romantic and Victorian Literary studies at Durham University.
She said: “I made great new friends at Hartlepool Sixth Form, really enjoyed my subjects and generally had a blast.
The teachers were great and very supportive. Lindsey Williams, my English Literature teacher, particularly inspired our class. She introduced us to Chaucer, the Gothic, advanced analysis of poetry, all of which inspired me to carry on studying English. ‘Frankenstein’ was even the first text that I taught to university undergraduates!
I particularly benefited from the performing arts facilities – the theatre and the practice space were fantastic.”
Maths and English are everywhere! They are important life skills that will help you to achieve your best in your studies and to progress to your dream career. A GCSE Maths and English qualification could be the difference between being accepted onto a university course or getting a job promotion.
